Job summary

The University of Virginia UVA Health in Charlottesville is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide direct, age-appropriate care under the guidance of an RN or licensed practitioner.

You will monitor patient conditions, support hygiene and safety needs, and help maintain a clean, well-stocked care environment while following medical orders and hospital policies. The role requires teamwork and adherence to safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.
• Experience: No experience required.
• Licensure: AHA BLS Certification required; prior certification acceptable for non-certified staff as noted.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, age-specific patient care under RN or licensed practitioner direction.
• Monitor patient conditions and communicate updates to health care team.
• Maintain a safe, clean, stocked environment and ensure safety of patients.
• Assist with hygiene, comfort, and personal care per plan of care.
• Obtain patient information and collect specimens for diagnostic tests when needed.
• Attend mandatory trainings and participate in patient safety initiatives.
• Demonstrate UVA Health values and teamwork in care delivery.
