Job summary

Northwell Health in New York State seeks a Patient Care Technician to support nurses in delivering direct patient care across units. You will assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and transport, and help with vital signs, glucose testing, and documentation.

This position requires a High School diploma or GED, BLS within 90 days, and at least 3 months of PCT experience or nursing program involvement. Work under RN supervision, prioritize safety, infection control, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 90 days from date of hire.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• AHA BLS certification required within 90 days from DOH.
• Minimum of three months experience as a PCT or currently in a nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care tasks under the direction of the RN.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges and transport of patients.
• Record and report vital signs and lab values as directed.
• Perform advanced skills under RN assessment and unit protocols.
• Document clearly on hospital forms and communicate with care teams.
• Assist in code situations under the Code Blue Team guidance.
• Maintain unit cleanliness and safety, and comply with infection control policies.
