Responsibilities

• Provides physical care to assigned patients and performs technical skills such as point of care testing.
• Implements nursing orders promptly with understanding of their purpose.
• Follows policy and procedure for assigned patient care activities.
• Provides patient comfort by positioning, bathing, linens, and courteous care.
• Ensures patient safety through side rails, alarms, and hourly rounding.
• Enters all data into the computer system as applicable.
• Communicates patient information and observations to the nurse in charge.
• Delivers care appropriate to the age of patients served and understands growth and development.
• Reports changes in patient condition to the nurse in charge.
• Maintains relationships with health care team, patients, and families.
• Keeps work area safe, clean, and well stocked; maintains unit equipment.
• Attends staff meetings and reviews meeting minutes.
• Maintains competency for Basic Life Support certification.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities and performs other duties as assigned.

Education
