Job summary

WellNow Urgent Care is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our team. You will collect patient history, take vital signs, perform phlebotomy if certified, complete lab paperwork, and support providers with exams and testing.

You will maintain patient flow, register patients, coordinate records, and ensure HIPAA compliance, while benefiting from competitive salaries, education opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of experience as a Patient Care Technician or similar role; OR equivalent education/certification in a related healthcare specialty
• Preferred experience in Urgent Care, Occupational Medicine, and/or Phlebotomy
• Ability to identify equipment problems and correct or notify team leader
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients, and families
• Computer knowledge and EMR skills; able to register patients on the computer; EMR proficiency
• Ability to complete CPR certification
• Excellent listening and note-taking skills
• Detail-oriented with accuracy; able to work on a team
• Friendly, customer service oriented; manage high call and patient volume

Responsibilities

• Take patient history and obtain vital signs
• Perform necessary phlebotomy for laboratory samples, if certified
• Complete laboratory paperwork/computer work for lab tests
• Perform point of care testing (strep, mono, glucose, influenza, pregnancy, urinalysis, glucose levels)
• Schedule and coordinate necessary records for ancillary care
• Assist providers with exams and testing (pelvic exams, eye/ear irrigations, EKG, splinting/ortho glass prep)
• Maintain confidentiality with all patient information (HIPAA)
• Ensure equipment is in working order
• Logs lab procedures; process paperwork using computer
• Maintain examination rooms; stock supplies
• Support patient flow and accompany the provider to the bedside
• Document provider dictated history and patient medical history and procedures
