Job summary

SIH in Carbondale, IL is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing care for patients. The role requires completing an Illinois-approved CNA program and BLS certification, with duties spanning vital signs, intake and output, and daily patient care tasks.

The incumbent will assist in emergencies (including CPR), document in medical records, and communicate changes in patient conditions to the nursing team. Cross-training to telemetry tech may be available.

Qualifications

• CNA training program completion with Illinois approval or nursing arts course (e.g., Nursing 101).
• BLS certification is required or current.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff with patient care activities (vital signs, intake/output, bathing, feeding, toileting).
• Assist in medical emergencies, including CPR.
• Document accurately and timely in the patient medical record.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to RN or LPN promptly.
• Complete delegated tasks from the RN promptly.
• Advocate for the patient by coordinating with health care professionals.
• Cross-train to telemetry tech if needed.

Role Specific Responsibilities

• Assists nursing staff with patient care activities such as but not limited to obtaining patients vital signs, intake and output, bathing, feeding, toileting etc.
• Assists in medical emergencies, including CPR
• Complete, accurate and timely documentation in patient medical record
• Timely communication of changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse
• Timely completion of delegated tasks from Registered Nurse
• Serve as an advocate for the patient by communicating and collaborating with other health service personnel
• Timely completion of required education and competencies
• Cross train to telemetry tech if applicable to department needs

Compensation (Commensurate with experience): $19.02 To $28.53
