Job Summary and Qualifications

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides high-quality, patient-centered care by performing basic delegated nursing functions and activities of daily living under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The PCT assists nursing staff in delivering patient care, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and complying with hospital policies and state regulations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Implementing nursing care plans through direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision.
  • Recording patient information such as vital signs, intake/output, and other data as per policy.
  • Assisting with patient mobility, transfers, discharges, and demonstrating proper body mechanics.
  • Collecting specimens for diagnostic tests, ensuring proper labeling and timely transfer.
  • Helping patients with activities of daily living, including eating, bathing, grooming, and elimination.
  • Serving as Monitor/Telemetry Tech as needed.
  • Engaging in best practices to enhance patient safety and experience, including safety rounding, communication techniques, and patient education.
Qualifications:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of employment.
