Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support patient care under the direct supervision of the physician or advanced practice clinician. Duties include check-in, vitals, med reconciliation, patient history, and aiding clinic flow in a busy outpatient setting.

The role requires basic computer skills, BLS within 90 days, and participation in orientation/externship. Prior PCT or nursing support experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills, capable of navigating databases with confidential information.
• Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate within 90 days of hire.
• Upon hire these disciplines will be required to attend orientation/externship and additional training as needed.

Responsibilities

• Check in patients and obtain vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, pulse oximetry, temperature).
• Perform medication reconciliation and collect patient medical history information.
• Expedite patient flow, room patients, and stock clinic with supplies.
• Navigate the electronic health record system (EPIC) and perform other non-clinical duties as needed.

Job Description:

Duties include but not limited to the following: check in patients, obtaining vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, pulse oximetry, temperature) and medication reconciliation, patient medical history information, expediting patient flow, rooming patients, stocking clinic with supplies, navigating electronic health record system (EPIC), and performing other non-clinical duties as needed.

The PCT will communicate in a respectful manner and will uphold Baptist’s mission and core values that drive service excellence.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills, specifically with navigating within databases containing highly confidential information.
• Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate, within 90 days of hire.
• Upon hire these disciplines will be required to attend orientation| externship and additional training as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Patient Care Technician experience.
• Experience in an outpatient clinic, physician practice, or healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with EPIC or other electronic medical record systems.
• Experience obtaining vital signs and documenting patient information.
