Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to assist in patient examination and treatment under physician supervision. Duties include checking in patients, taking vital signs, med reconciliation, and maintaining patient flow. Prior EPIC experience and basic life support are preferred.

Orientation and additional training will be provided. Preferred candidates have outpatient clinic experience, familiarity with EMR systems, and a background as Nursing Assistant, CNA, or similar roles.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic computer skills for navigating confidential databases."
• Basic Life Support certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Orientation and additional training will be provided at hire.

Responsibilities

• Check in patients and obtain vital signs (height, weight, BP, pulse, oximetry, temperature).
• Perform medication reconciliation and collect medical history information.
• Expedite patient flow, room patients, and stock clinic with supplies.
• Navigate the electronic health record system (EPIC) and document information.

Summary

The Patient Care Technician will be responsible for the examination and treatment of patients under the direct supervision of the physician or advanced practice clinician.

Job Description:

Duties include but not limited to the following: check in patients, obtaining vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, pulse oximetry, temperature) and medication reconciliation, patient medical history information, expediting patient flow, rooming patients, stocking clinic with supplies, navigating electronic health record system (EPIC), and performing other non-clinical duties as needed.

The PCT will communicate in a respectful manner and will uphold Baptist’s mission and core values that drive service excellence.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills, specifically with navigating within databases containing highly confidential information.
• Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate, within 90 days of hire.
• Upon hire these disciplines will be required to attend orientation| externship and additional training as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Patient Care Technician experience.
• Experience in an outpatient clinic, physician practice, or healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with EPIC or other electronic medical record systems.
• Experience obtaining vital signs and documenting patient information.
