Job summary

The Baptist Health Patient Care Technician will support the examination and treatment of patients under the supervision of a physician or advanced practice clinician. Duties include checking in patients, obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, gathering medical history, and updating the EHR in EPIC.

You will help expedite patient flow, room patients, stock the clinic with supplies, and perform related non-clinical duties while upholding Baptist Health's mission and core values of service

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills for navigating confidential data.
• Basic Life Support and other advanced training within 90 days of hire.
• Orientation and externship provided upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Check in patients and obtain vital signs.
• Document medical history information and perform medication reconciliation.
• Expedite patient flow and room patients.
• Stock clinic with supplies and navigate EPIC.
• Perform other non-clinical duties as needed.

Summary

Job Description

The Patient Care Technician will be responsible for the examination and treatment of patients under the direct supervision of the physician or advanced practice clinician.

Duties include but not limited to the following: check in patients, obtaining vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, pulse oximetry, temperature) and medication reconciliation, patient medical history information, expediting patient flow, rooming patients, stocking clinic with supplies, navigating electronic health record system (EPIC), and performing other non-clinical duties as needed.

The PCT will communicate in a respectful manner and will uphold Baptist's mission and core values that drive service excellence.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills, specifically with navigating within databases containing highly confidential information.
• Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate, within 90 days of hire.
• Upon hire these disciplines will be required to attend orientation| externship and additional training as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Patient Care Technician experience.
• Experience in an outpatient clinic, physician practice, or healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with EPIC or other electronic medical record systems.
• Experience obtaining vital signs and documenting patient information.
