Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support clinical operations in our outpatient setting. You will assist with patient examinations and treatments under direct supervision, check in patients, obtain vital signs, and help with medication reconciliation and medical history collection.

You will expedite patient flow, room patients, stock the clinic with supplies, and navigate the EPIC electronic health record system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic computer skills to navigate confidential databases.
• Basic Life Support certification or equivalent within 90 days of hire.
• Orientation/externship and additional training will be provided after hire.

Responsibilities

• Examine and treat patients under the direct supervision of a physician or APC.
• Check in patients, obtain vital signs, and reconcile medications.
• Document medical history and expedite patient flow.
• Room patients and stock the clinic with supplies.
• Navigate the EPIC electronic health record system and perform other non-clinical duties as needed.

Summary

Job Description

The Patient Care Technician will be responsible for the examination and treatment of patients under the direct supervision of the physician or advanced practice clinician.

Duties include but not limited to the following: check in patients, obtaining vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, pulse oximetry, temperature) and medication reconciliation, patient medical history information, expediting patient flow, rooming patients, stocking clinic with supplies, navigating electronic health record system (EPIC), and performing other non-clinical duties as needed.

The PCT will communicate in a respectful manner and will uphold Baptist's mission and core values that drive service excellence.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills, specifically with navigating within databases containing highly confidential information.
• Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate, within 90 days of hire.
• Upon hire these disciplines will be required to attend orientation| externship and additional training as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Patient Care Technician experience.
• Experience in an outpatient clinic, physician practice, or healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with EPIC or other electronic medical record systems.
• Experience obtaining vital signs and documenting patient information.
