Job summary

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital seeks a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the fast-paced 3 East IMC unit in Virginia Beach, VA. The role supports high-acuity surgical and medical patients, with a 1:12 nurse-patient ratio and opportunities for professional development.

Responsibilities include direct patient care, vital signs, mobility, phlebotomy, EKG testing, and specimen collection under RN direction. Certifications such as BLS within 90 days are required.

Qualifications

• HS – High School Grad or Equivalent; completion of CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, US Navy Hospital Corps School or EMT/Paramedic programs or current clinical student.
• AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care, support independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation.
• Perform phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal and specimen collection.
• Assist with Foley catheter insertion and removal; document observations and report changes to RN.
• Ensure patient safety practices under RN supervision.
