Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a patient care associate to provide direct patient care and assist the RN in caring for patients in stable condition. You will perform basic nursing tasks and document care in the electronic medical record.

You will support unit activities, participate in safety and quality initiatives, and ensure a clean, safe environment while adhering to hospital policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
• Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program.
• Preference for acute care exposure within last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities such as: activities of daily living, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, intake and output, meal consumption, height and weight, blood glucose testing, and documentation in the EMR.
• Assists with coordination of inpatient unit activities including admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed by charge nurse or care team leader.
• Supports quality and patient satisfaction initiatives such as bedside shift reports and ensuring a clean, safe environment.
• Maintains communication with nursing staff regarding patient status changes and any concerns.
• Adheres to hospital policies, HIPAA, and safety procedures; performs other duties as assigned.
