Job summary

Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide basic health care and support under RN guidance. Responsibilities include sanitizing rooms, monitoring vitals, feeding and grooming assistance, and helping patients with daily tasks.

The role emphasizes teamwork, accurate documentation, and compassionate patient-centered care within a faith-based health system. Experience in acute or long-term care is preferred; EPIC EHR experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent typically required (as per CNA/STNA paths)
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred or required before direct patient care
• Experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care preferred
• EPIC EHR training is preferred
• Ability to provide basic patient care including monitoring and assistance with hygiene, feeding and mobility

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including care, comfort, vital signs, personal care and hygiene
• Report changes and concerns to the nurse as liaison between patient and nurse
• Deliver high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff
• Document patient care accurately and in a timely manner
• Assist with patient transfers using therapeutic techniques and promote independence
• Encourage patients to perform tasks independently and tailor care to patient interests
