Job summary

Northwestern Memorial is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support the Registered Nurse by performing direct and indirect patient care across a busy unit. The role involves accommodating admissions, transfers and discharges, taking vital signs, monitoring intake/output, and assisting with newborn care under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include responding to call lights, assisting with meals and personal care, handling post-operative duties, and ensuring patient safety and comfort

Qualifications

• CNA Certification or currently enrolled in School of Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with admission, transfer and discharge processes.
• Take and record temperature, pulse, respirations, weight and height.
• Record intake and output and monitor drains.
• Assist with newborn care and maternal monitoring as directed.
• Obtain EKG and apply fetal monitor equipment.
• Respond to patient call lights promptly and ensure safety.
• Provide morning, evening and peri-care; assist with feeding as needed.
• Transport patients and equipment as required; assist with post-operative care.
