Job summary

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) at MUSC reports to the Nurse Manager and works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to care and help achieve desired outcomes. The position involves 36 hours per week across 3 rotating 12-hour shifts, including some weekends and holidays, with opportunities for progression from PCT I to PCT II.

MUSC requires BLS within two weeks of hire and maintains it thereafter; MUSC offers equal opportunity

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 2 weeks of hire and maintained thereafter (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or equivalent).
• PCT I requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
• PCT II requires one of: associate/bachelor's degree, 1 year PCT experience, 1 year healthcare facility experience, nursing school enrollment with Nursing Fundamentals, healthcare-related field enrollment, or CNA/ CMA certification.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Active enrollment in nursing school (Nursing Fundamentals completed)

Certified Nursing Assistant Certification or Certified Medical Assistant Certification

Active enrollment in healthcare related field from an accredited institution
