Job summary

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) at MUSC Health reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.

The schedule is 36 hours per week, with 3 twelve-hour night shifts per week, including weekends and holidays, on the Neuro 8W unit. The position requires BLS within two weeks of hire and ongoing certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required for PCT I.
• Multiple options listed for PCT II eligibility in the job description.
• BLS required within 2 weeks of hire and maintained (AHA or ARC).

Responsibilities

• Support decentralized patient-centered care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Perform multi-skilled activities to support patient outcomes and care delivery.
• Work in MUHA/Medical Center on the Neuro 8W unit and related shifts.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Associate or Bachelor's degree

1 year work experience in a .6 FTE PCT I position at MUSC CHS

1 year of experience in a healthcare facility

Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals

Active enrollment in a healthcare related field

Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification
