Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Leominster, MA is seeking a Patient Care Technician I to support licensed clinicians in daily patient care activities and observations.

The role requires strong English communication, basic computer skills, and calmness under pressure. Part-time, on-site, day shift, 7:00 am–7:00 pm with 24 hours per week; non-exempt with eligible signing bonus potential. Requires high school diploma or GED and BLS within 30 days; opportunity for advancement to PCA II with experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30-days as a condition of employment.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic Medical Terminology knowledge.
• Must be able to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients.
• Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
• Maintains a safe environment and assists in de-escalation and restraints as directed.
• Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.
• Assists in moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients using proper safety techniques.
