Join Our Team as a Full-Time Patient Care Technician at UPMC

Are you passionate about making a difference in patients' lives? We are seeking a dedicated Full-Time Patient Care Technician to join our dynamic 8B Medical/GI Unit.

Scheduling requirements include availability for rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays. The position offers opportunities for growth, with a clear career ladder from Nursing Assistant to Patient Care Technician - Lead. The starting pay rate for Nursing Assistants is $18.40/hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist with activities of daily living, basic patient care, point-of-care testing, vital signs, telemetry monitoring, specimen collection.
• The role may also involve advanced skills like phlebotomy, IV removal, and EKGs, depending on department needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one of the following:
• One year of general healthcare experience, or
• Six months of experience as a UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency achieved within 120 days, or
• Enrollment in a nursing program with at least one clinical rotation completed, or
• Completion of a bachelor's degree in a health sciences field.

Nursing students or those with EMT experience are preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• CPR certification based on AHA standards, including both didactic and skills demonstration components within 30 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
• Clearances with renewal: Act 31, 33, 34, 73.
