Job summary

Baptist Health Medical Group in New Albany, Indiana seeks a Patient Care Tech for Cardiac Surgery on first shift. This full-time role supports physicians with patient exams, history taking, rooming patients, and coordinating tests and follow-ups.

You will navigate EPIC, manage patient flow, check authorizations, and maintain HIPAA/compliance while delivering compassionate care aligned with Baptist's mission.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Manages the coordination and flow of patients throughout the visit to create an exceptional patient experience.
• Proactively check the provider's schedule and review information within the patient record to ensure all required information is available prior to the visit.
• Proactively obtain any missing information from the patient to ensure medical records are accurate and up to date.
• Upon arrival, capture patient's vital signs, past medical, social and family history, medication usage and preferred pharmacy information.
• Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements including HIPAA/OSHA compliance.

First Shift/Full Time

The Patient Care Technician will be responsible for the examination and treatment of activities under the direct supervision of the physician.

Duties include but not limited to the following: obtaining patient medical history information, expediting patient flow, rooming patients, stocking clinic with supplies, navigating electronic health record system (EPIC), scheduling and following-up with appointments and checking for prior authorizations and scheduling tests, procedures and consultations.

The PCT will communicate with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients and physicians in a respectful manner and will uphold Baptist's mission and core values that drive service excellence.
