Job summary

Baptist Health Medical Group is seeking a Patient Care Technician for first shift, full-time work to support clinical operations. The role involves examining and treating activities under physician supervision and improving patient flow.

Responsibilities include obtaining patient history, rooming patients, managing appointments and prior authorizations, and coordinating with pharmacies, insurers, and physicians to uphold Baptist Health values and service excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills with databases containing confidential information.
• Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate.

• Manages the coordination and flow of patients throughout the visit to create an exceptional patient experience.
• Proactively checks the provider's schedule and reviews patient records to ensure all information is available before the visit.
• Proactively obtains missing information from the patient to keep medical records accurate and up to date.
• Captures vital signs, medical history, medications, and preferred pharmacy on arrival.
• Ensures compliance with state and federal requirements including HIPAA/OSHA.

The Patient Care Technician will be responsible for the examination and treatment of activities under the direct supervision of the physician.

Duties include but not limited to the following: obtaining patient medical history information, expediting patient flow, rooming patients, stocking clinic with supplies, navigating electronic health record system (EPIC), scheduling and following-up with appointments and checking for prior authorizations and scheduling tests, procedures and consultations.

The PCT will communicate with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients, and physicians in a respectful manner and will uphold Baptists mission and core values that drive service excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manages the coordination and flow of patients throughout the patients visit to create an exceptional patient experience.

• Proactively check the provider's schedule and review information within the patient record to ensure that all required information is available prior to their visit.

• Proactively obtains any missing information from the patient to ensure that medical records are accurate and up to date, which helps to ensure better care is being provided.

• Upon arrival, captures patient's vital signs, past medical, social and family history, medication usage and preferred pharmacy information.

• Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements including HIPAA/OSHA compliance.
