Job summary

Baptist Health in Lexington, KY is seeking a Nursing Assistant II for the Emergency Department, full-time, second shift. You will work with a multidisciplinary team under the direction of the ED RN, assisting with patient care, specimen collection, and department flow.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, Kentucky Nurse Aide certification or eligible clinical, BLS, and preferred experience in lab or patient services. Training opportunities and comprehensive benefits are provided.

Description

An Emergency department (ED) that provides 24-hour emergency care to patients who need urgent medical attention for severe injuries or illness.

The Nursing Assistant II (Emergency Department Technician) functions within the multidisciplinary team that cares for the ED patient under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse. Demonstrates excellent communication and coordination of patient care/department flow. Working knowledge of appropriate computer functions and systems for assigned duties. Maintains work area to ensure efficient operation and workflow. Collects, process, transports and analyzes specimens according to approved standards of testing per laboratory policies and procedures. Demonstrates proficiency in patient care, according to hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or successful completion of first year clinical classes in nursing school and validation of a clinical consistent with level of education.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
  • Previous laboratory or customer service experience preferred.
  • Data entry and computer experience and /or phlebotomy, point of care testing experience preferred.
