Job summary

Baptist Health Medical Group in Louisville's St. Matthews area is seeking a Medical Assistant Hematology/Oncology for first shift. Under physician supervision, you will manage patient flow, take medical histories, room patients, and support scheduling and tests.

The role emphasizes accurate charting, EPIC navigation, HIPAA compliance, and strong teamwork to deliver compassionate, high-quality care in a busy oncology clinic. Experience with EHR systems is required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manage the coordination and flow of patients to create an exceptional visit experience.
  • Proactively check the provider’s schedule and review information within the patient record before visits.
  • Obtain any missing information to ensure medical records are accurate and up to date.
  • On arrival, capture patient vital signs, medical history, medications, and preferred pharmacy.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA/OSHA and other regulatory requirements.

Baptist Health Medical Group Medical Assistant Hematology/Oncology St. Matthews area First Shift/Full Time The Patient Care Technician will be responsible for the examination and treatment of activities under the direct supervision of the physician. Duties include but not limited to the following: obtaining patient medical history information, expediting patient flow, rooming patients, stocking clinic with supplies, navigating electronic health record system (EPIC), scheduling and following-up with appointments and checking for prior authorizations and scheduling tests, procedures and consultations. The PCT will communicate with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients and physicians in a respectful manner and will uphold Baptist’s mission and core values that drive service excellence.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Manages the coordination and flow of patients throughout the patients visit to create an exceptional patient experience.

  • Proactively check the provider’s schedule and review information within the patient record to ensure that all required information is available prior to their visit.

  • Proactively obtains any missing information from the patient to ensure that medical records are accurate and up to date, which helps to ensure better care is being provided.

  • Upon arrival, captures patient’s vital signs, past medical, social and family history, medication usage and preferred pharmacy information.

  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements including HIPAA/OSHA compliance.


Minimum Requirements


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Basic computer skills, specifically with navigating within databases containing highly confidential information.

  • Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate.
