Job summary

Trinity Health Livingston - Brighton, MI is seeking a Patient Care Tech to join the Progressive Care Unit. This full-time opportunity includes 36 hours per week with additional part-time and contingent roles available, and requires weekend and holiday rotations.

Under the direction of a registered nurse, the PCT assists with ADLs, specimen collection, IV procedures, and accurate documentation while maintaining a clean, safe patient environment and delivering compassionate, family-centered care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least one year of direct patient care experience or completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Responsibilities

• The PCT assists patients in completing ADLs such as bathing, toileting and mobility.
• Collects specimens including blood and blood cultures and records data for documentation.
• Under RN supervision, maintains a clean, safe patient care environment and supports family-centered care.

Status Available

We have opportunities for full time, 36 hours a week, part time, 24 hours a week, or contingent. Full time and part time positions are benefit eligible. Contingent is not benefit eligible.

Weekend and holiday rotations required.

Position Purpose

The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.

Required Education / Licensure

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

What you will do

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• The PCT assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
• A PCT will collects and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and inserts and removes peripheral IV catheters. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
