Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support the delivery of patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.

The role requires either active Florida CNA/EMT/Paramedic licensure or nursing students eligible for CNA exam, or Florida CNA certification with 120 days to license; background screening is mandatory.

HS Diploma or GED is required; basic computer skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold active Florida CNA, EMT, or Paramedic license, or be a nursing student eligible for CNA exam.
• Nursing students must be enrolled in or a graduate of an accredited Nursing program (RN/LPN) and not currently licensed as RN/LPN.
• PCT or CNA certification requires Florida State Board-approved program and obtaining Florida CNA license within 120 days of graduation.
• Background screening is mandatory for employees providing care to vulnerable populations.

Job Summary

The Patient Care Technician performs tasks supportive to delivery of patient care in assigned departments under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.

Required Qualifications

- Require one of the following:

1.) Florida licensure as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Paramedic, or a military Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic Specialist, or Aerospace Medical Service Specialist; or National licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); which must be maintained active during employment; or

2.) Nursing students who are eligible for CNA exam are required to: a.) currently be enrolled in or a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (RN/LPN); b.) if enrolled, have completed the first semester of clinical for ASN/BSN degree or completion of first trimester for LPN; and c.) cannot be currently licensed in the U.S. as a RN or LPN; or

3.) Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification: Provide certification of successful completion of a Florida State Board approved program and successfully obtain a Florida CNA license within 120 days of graduation.
