Job summary

Northwestern Memorial Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support Registered Nurses in direct and indirect patient care. You will assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, vitals, specimen collection, and newborn care on a busy hospital unit.

The role requires CNA certification or enrollment in nursing school, CPR/BLS certification, and a strong safety focus. You will work under RN supervision and participate in patient care team activities.

Qualifications

• CNA certification or currently enrolled in nursing school with basic clinical rotations completed.
• CPR recognition by the American Heart Association (BLS for Healthcare Providers).
• Minimum 90% on annual Health and Safety Training quizzes.
• Prior health care experience is preferred with ability to relate to patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist with admission, transfer, discharge processes and routine patient care tasks.
• Take vitals, monitor weight/height, and record intake/output for patients.
• Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy as directed by RN.
• Support newborn care, post‑operative care, and safety measures on the unit.
• Respond to patient call lights and emergencies, document observations, and prepare rooms for procedures.
