Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Chicago, IL is seeking a Patient Care Technician to assist nursing staff and support direct patient care. The role includes phlebotomy, newborn glucose checks, and monitoring vitals.

You will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to ensure high-quality patient care and safety. Required CNA certification or nursing student status with clinical rotations, CPR/BLS, and a HS diploma (nursing education preferred).

Qualifications

• CNA certification or nursing student with rotations.
• CPR certification (AHA BLS).
• High school diploma required; college or nursing education preferred.
• Experience in healthcare setting preferred with ability to relate to patients and staff.
• Adherence to safety and health training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
• Record vitals and basic patient measurements (temperature, pulse, respirations, etc.).
• Perform phlebotomy and newborn glucose checks.
• Provide direct patient care and support to the RN and unit staff.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and stock supplies.
• Respond to patient calls and assist with care as needed.
