Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support registered nurses in direct and indirect patient care. The role emphasizes patient-first care, safety, and timely response to patient needs within the hospital unit.

The incumbent will assist with admissions, monitor vital signs, perform routine care tasks, and help with routine newborn and infant care when directed. This is a frontline clinical support position within the Northwestern Medicine system.

Qualifications

• CNA certification or enrollment in nursing program preferred.
• Current CPR (BLS for Healthcare Providers) required.
• Experience in patient care settings is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with direct patient care activities and safety.
• Take and record vital signs and monitor patient status.
• Acknowledge and respond to patient calls and needs promptly.
• Assist with admissions, transfers and discharges as needed.
• Support newborn and pediatric care under supervision, as applicable.
