Job summary

Texas Health Frisco is seeking a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for our Surgical unit to provide compassionate patient care and support to the nursing team.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and previous CNA/PCT experience is preferred. Training programs and BCLS certification are needed prior to independent patient care. This is a PRN/As-needed day shift position with orientation during the first week.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous CNA/PCT experience preferred.
• PCT training program or THR-approved program required or optional upon hire.
• May include EMT or nursing student status and related prerequisites.
• Basic cardiac life support (BCLS) prior to independent patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care as per plan of care.
• Collect patient data and report findings to nurse.
• Assist in admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
• Support activities of daily living per patient/family preferences.
• Perform technical procedures safely and accurately.
• Document actions and care outcomes appropriately.
• Collaborate with nurse to tailor care for patient population.
• Respect cultural and religious needs in care delivery.
• Maintain a clean, safe patient environment.
• Anticipate patient/family needs and respond promptly.

Work location: Texas Health Frisco, 12400 N Dallas Parkway, Frisco, TX 75033

Work hours: PRN/As needed: Day shifts (7:00am – 7:00 pm) - Variable 12-hour day shifts with weekend and holiday requirements

Orientation/Training: Must be able to attend orientation/training Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm during the first week of hire

Here’s What You Need

• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Required


• Previous CNA/PCT experience preferred


• PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire. Upon Hire Required Or


• EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) Upon Hire Required Or


• Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program Upon Hire Required Or


• 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification. Upon Hire Required And


• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required


• Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.


• Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.

What You Will Do

CARE OF PATIENT/TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Provides assistance to patient according to plan of care.


• Collects patient data, identifies and reports significant findings to nurse.


• Assists in admission/transfer/discharge.


• Provides and Revises patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences.


• Performs technical procedures safely and proficiently.


• Takes action to reduce or eliminate patient risk.


• Enter orders into computer or manual system if applicable.


• Documents accurately and appropriately.


• In collaboration/consultation with the nurse, adapts care to reflect patient population.


• In collaboration/consultation with nurse, incorporates cultural/religious needs and beliefs into delivery of care.


• Keeps patient environment clean and maintains safe environment.


• Anticipates patient/family and visitor needs and takes action to meet those needs and rounds as appropriate
