Job summary

Texas Health Frisco is seeking a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for our Medical Surgical unit. This role supports patients, collects data, assists with admissions/transfers, and helps ensure safe, compassionate care on a 12-hour day shift.

The team emphasizes unit-based collaboration, flexible self-scheduling, and opportunities for education and career growth. A high school diploma and PCT training or equivalent are required; BCLS and CPI training are expected, with orientation Monday–Friday 8am–5pm

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• PCT training program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP and NCCT or THR approved program must be completed or obtained upon hire.
• EMT training or certification is acceptable as alternative.
• Nursing students who have completed fundamentals may qualify for the role.
• CPI training is preferred and maintained annually.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care according to the plan of care.
• Collects patient data and reports significant findings to the nurse.
• Assists in admission, transfer, and discharge.
• Supports activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences.
• Performs technical procedures safely and accurately.
• Takes action to reduce patient risk and maintains a safe environment.
• Documents patient information accurately in the chart.
• Adapts care in collaboration with the nurse respecting patient population needs.
• Incorporates cultural and religious needs into care delivery.
• Maintains patient environment and attends to housekeeping to ensure safety.
• Anticipates patient and family needs and responds promptly.

Patient Care Tech (PCT) Medical Surgical

Work location: Texas Health Frisco, 12400 N Dallas Parkway, Frisco, TX 75033

Work hours: PRN/As needed: Day shifts (7:00am – 7:00pm) - Variable 12-hour day shifts with weekend and holiday requirements

Orientation/Training: Must be able to attend orientation/training Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm during the first week of hire

• Will float as needed between Medical Surgical and Surgical Inpatient units

Here’s What You Need

• H.S. Diploma or equivalent required
• PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP and NCCT or a THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire. Upon Hire Required or
• EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Military experience with medical training equivalent to EMT-B Upon Hire Required or
• Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program. Upon Hire Required or
• 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification Upon Hire Required and
• Medical/Surgical hospital experience preferred
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually within 90 Days Required
• Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
• Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.

What You Will Do CARE OF PATIENT/TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Provides assistance to patient according to plan of care.
• Collects patient data, identifies and reports significant findings to nurse.
• Assists in admission/transfer/discharge.
• Provides and revises patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences.
• Performs technical procedures safely and proficiently.
• Takes action to reduce or eliminate patient risk.
• Enter orders into computer or manual system if applicable.
• Documents accurately and appropriately.
• In collaboration/consultation with the nurse, adapts care to reflect patient population.
• In collaboration/consultation with nurse, incorporates cultural/religious needs and beliefs into delivery of care.
• Keeps patient environment clean and maintains safe environment.
• Anticipates patient/family and visitor needs and takes action to meet those needs and rounds as appropriate
