Job summary

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano is seeking a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for its Float Pool. The role offers three 12-hour night shifts per week, with opportunities to float across departments to gain broad patient care experience.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, PCT training or EMT background, and BCLS/CPI certifications. A dynamic, fast-paced hospital setting with growth and educational opportunities awaits.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Required.
  • Acute Care Hospital Experience highly preferred.
  • PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, THR approved program.
  • CPR/BCLS prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training maintained annually.

Responsibilities

  • Provides care to patient according to the plan of care.
  • Collects patient data and reports significant findings to the nurse.
  • Assists in admission/transfer/discharge.
  • Records patient activities of daily living with patient/family input.
  • Documents accurately and collaborates with the nurse to adapt care.

Work hours: Full Time, Nights (6:45p – 7:15a) - Three variable 12-hour Night shifts per week for 36 hours per week with rotating weekend and holiday requirements

Here’s What You Need
  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Acute Care Hospital Experience highly preferred
  • PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire. Upon Hire Required Or
  • EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) Upon Hire Required Or
  • Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program Upon Hire Required Or
  • 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification. Upon Hire Required And
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days Required
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.
  • After hire PCT CNA renewal is not a requirement of the role if the PCT has consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.
What You Will Do

CARE OF PATIENT/TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Provides assistance to patient according to plan of care.
  • Collects patient data, identifies and reports significant findings to nurse.
  • Assists in admission/transfer/discharge.
  • Provides and Revises patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences.
  • Performs technical procedures safely and proficiently.
  • Takes action to reduce or eliminate patient risk.
  • Enters orders into computer or manual system if applicable.
  • Documents accurately and appropriately.
  • In collaboration/consultation with the nurse, adapts care to reflect patient population.
  • In collaboration/consultation with nurse, incorporates cultural/religious needs and beliefs into delivery of care.
  • Keeps patient environment clean and maintains safe environment.
  • Anticipates patient/family and visitor needs and takes action to meet those needs and rounds as appropriate
