Job summary

Texas Health Frisco is seeking a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for the Medical Surgical unit. The position supports patient care, data collection, and coordination during admission, transfer, and discharge, with emphasis on safety and accurate documentation.

Orientation begins Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm in the first week. The unit operates 12-hour day shifts with weekend and holiday requirements. The hospital offers growth opportunities and a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• PCT training program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP and NCCT or THR approved program; not required to maintain certification after hire.
• EMT or nursing student with fundamentals training; or military EMT training acceptable.
• One year of applicable experience in lieu of an active certification; BCLS and CPI training required.
• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with good verbal and written communication.

• Provides assistance to patient according to plan of care.
• Collects patient data, identifies and reports significant findings to nurse.
• Assists in admission/transfer/discharge.
• Provides and revises activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences.

Work hours:

PRN/As needed: Day shifts (7:00am – 7:00pm)

• Variable 12-hour day shifts with weekend and holiday requirements

Orientation/Training:

Must be able to attend orientation/training Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm during the first week of hire

Here’s What You Need

• H.S. Diploma or equivalent required
• PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP and NCCT or a THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire. Upon Hire Required or
• EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Military experience with medical training equivalent to EMT-B Upon Hire Required or
• Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program. Upon Hire Required or
• 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification Upon Hire Required and
• Medical/Surgical hospital experience preferred
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually within 90 Days Required
• Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
• Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.

CARE OF PATIENT/TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Provides assistance to patient according to plan of care.
• Collects patient data, identifies and reports significant findings to nurse.
• Assists in admission/transfer/discharge.
• Provides and revises patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences.
• Performs technical procedures safely and proficiently.
• Takes action to reduce or eliminate patient risk.
• Enters orders into computer or manual system if applicable.
• Documents accurately and appropriately.
• In collaboration/consultation with the nurse, adapts care to reflect patient population.
• In collaboration/consultation with nurse, incorporates cultural/religious needs and beliefs into delivery of care.
• Keeps patient environment clean and maintains safe environment.
• Anticipates patient/family and visitor needs and takes action to meet those needs and rounds as appropriate
