Job summary

Johns Hopkins Intrastaff in Maryland is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support inpatient units. You will assist with ADLs, vital signs, EKGs, Foley care, IV care, and patient mobility under the supervision of the health care team.

Responsibilities include communicating with patients and families, reading equipment readings, maintaining aseptic technique, and ensuring patient safety. A Maryland CNA license and BLS CPR are required, with at least one year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• One year of Patient Care Tech experience in an inpatient hospital setting within the last three years.
• Active Maryland CNA license.
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique, basic wound care, patient safety, and patient transport techniques.

Responsibilities

• Perform delegated duties related to the comfort and personal needs of the patients, including ADLs, EKGs, finger sticks, Foley care, sterile technique, IV care, nutritional support, patient mobility, vital signs, bed changes, and room replenishment.
• Assist the healthcare team with specific treatments and procedures.
• Communicate with patients, families, and nursing staff with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Read and interpret equipment readings and be knowledgeable of operating parameters of patient care equipment.
• Stand and walk for extended periods; assist with lifting and positioning patients and transporting equipment.

Pay Rate: $25.00 - $27.00 Per hour

Perform delegated duties related to the comfort and personal needs of the patients with consideration of their developmental needs.These activities may include ADL(s), EKGS, Finger Sticks, Foley (insertion/care/removal), sterile technique, IV care, nutritional support, patient mobility, vital signs, changing beds, replenishing room supplies and assisting healthcare team with specific treatments and/or procedures.

• Reads and interprets equipment readings, in conjunction with patient information.
• Knowledgeable of operating parameters of patient care equipment.
• Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, radiation and pharmacological agents.
• Work requires standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
• Work requires lifting and/or positioning patients and transporting wheelchairs, beds and related equipment.
• Work requires manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform delegated patient care procedures.
• Work may require contact with aggressive and/or combative patients.
• Employees in this position will be required to adhere to work availability and unit scheduling requirements.
• Total of one year of Patient Care Tech experience in inpatient Hospital setting over the last three years
• High School Diploma/ Equivalent
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support CPR
• Active Maryland CNA License
