Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles seeks a Patient Care Tech on the 4th Floor Med Surg/Tele for full-time day shifts. The role supports registered nurses to deliver safe, compassionate care to patients.

Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, monitoring vital signs, maintaining charts, and communicating patient needs.

Candidates should have six months of healthcare experience, BLS, and be prepared to complete required trainings.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of experience in a hospital, clinic, SNF/home health as nurse assistant or similar.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Must complete Workplace Violence Prevention Program within 30 days of hire.
• California State Nurse Assistant certification preferred.
• Solid understanding of human anatomy and basic medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Answer patient call signals and determine needs.
• Provide physical support for daily living activities.
• Review dietary restrictions and ensure appropriate diet.
• Record intake and outputs and report changes.
• Record vital signs as directed.
• Gather information from caregivers, nurses or physicians about patient plans.
• Observe patients for symptoms needing medical attention.
• Document observations to nurses.
• Remind patients to take medications or supplements.
• Remind patients to take medications or supplements.
• Support hospital mission and values.
• Participate in rounding as needed.
