Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare is seeking a Patient Care Tech for the Med Surg/Tele 4th Floor on full-time nights. The role supports Registered Nurses to deliver safe, efficient patient care and requires standard training including BLS and California CNA preferences.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, monitoring vital signs, documenting observations, and ensuring proper nutrition and safety.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Must complete annual Workplace Violence Prevention Program/Certificate within 30 days of hire.
Current California State Nurse Assistant certification preferred.
Understanding of anatomy, medical terminology and rehabilitation principles.

Responsibilities

Answer patient call signals and signals to determine needs.
Provide physical support for daily living activities (bathing, dressing, mobility).
Review dietary restrictions and preferences to ensure appropriate meals.
Record food/liquid intake and output and report changes to staff.
Record vital signs as directed by nursing staff.
Gather information from caregivers and clinicians about patient plans.
Observe patients for distress or symptoms needing medical attention.
Document observations to nurses and care team.
Remind patients to take medications or supplements.
Support hospital mission and values; participate in rounding.
