Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles, CA seeks a Patient Care Technician for Med Surg/Tele on the 3rd Floor, full-time days. You will support Registered Nurses to deliver safe, high-quality patient care and participate in rounding, observations, and documentation.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 6 months of relevant hospital or SNF/home-health experience, and current BLS. California CNA certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Six (6) months of experience in a hospital, clinic, SNF/home health setting as a nurse assistant, care partner, medical assistant or student nurse with one clinical semester.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Must complete Workplace Violence Prevention Program/Certificate within 30 days of hire/transfer.
• Current California State Nurse Assistant certification preferred.
• Solid understanding of anatomy, basic medical terminology, and rehabilitation principles is desired.

Responsibilities

• Answer patient call signals and determine needs.
• Provide physical support for daily living activities.
• Review dietary restrictions and preferences for appropriate meals.
• Record intake and output and report changes to medical staff.
• Record vital signs as directed by staff.
• Gather information from caregivers and medical staff about plan of care.
• Observe patients for symptoms requiring attention and report findings.
• Document observations to nurses.
• Remind patients to take medications or supplements.
• Comply with hospital mission and values.
• Participate actively in rounding and other duties as assigned.
