Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles, CA invites applications for a Patient Care Tech on Med Surg/Tele (4th Floor). This full-time night shift role supports RNs to deliver safe, timely, high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities include assisting patients with daily living activities, monitoring intake and output, recording vitals, and communicating changes to the care team. Prior hospital or SNF experience and a California CNA certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Six months of hospital/clinic/SNF/home health clinical experience within the last 3 years.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Annual Workplace Violence Prevention Program/Certificate within 30 days of hire.
• Current California State Nurse Assistant certification preferred.
• Knowledge of human anatomy, basic medical terminology, and rehabilitation principles is desired.

Responsibilities

• Answer patient call signals and intercoms to determine needs.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Review dietary restrictions and allergies to plan meals.
• Measure and record intake/output; report changes.
• Record vital signs as directed.
• Gather information from caregivers and care team.
• Observe patients for signs needing medical attention.
• Document observations or concerns to nurses.
• Remind patients about medications or supplements.
• Participate in rounding and uphold hospital policies.
