Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a Patient Care Assistant to provide direct patient care and assist with unit coordination in a hospital setting. You will perform basic nursing procedures, document care in the EMR, and support RN supervision for acutely ill patients.

The role emphasizes medical asepsis, patient dignity and privacy, and adherence to hospital policies with duties in admissions, discharges and transfers as needed.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• Experience as PCA/PCT/NA/LPN/EMT or related military medical role.
• 1 year in acute or long-term care or enrolled in ADN/BSN program.
• Basic computer skills.
• Proficient in phlebotomy and straight catheterization.

Responsibilities

• Provides and documents direct patient care including ADLs, vital signs, phlebotomy, I&O, mobility, and Foley catheter care.
• Documents EKGs, weights, I&O, and all treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Assists with admissions, discharges and transfers; participates in unit activities like supply stocking.
• Contributes to quality and patient satisfaction initiatives, including bedside shift reports and hourly rounding.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
