Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) seeks a patient care assistant to provide basic clinical support within a correctional setting in Huntsville, Texas. You will collect vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, and help maintain patient safety and privacy under the charge nurse's guidance.

Required are a high school diploma or equivalent, and one of several health program completions or two years of direct patient care experience, plus current BLS-HP certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or completion of listed health programs.
• Current BLS-HP certification is required.
• Two years of direct patient care experience or nursing program enrollment with clinical concepts.
• Ability to collect vital signs and assist with basic patient care within a correctional setting.

Responsibilities

• Collect, report and document data: vital signs, intake/output, and specimens.
• Assist with patient activities and daily care as per plan.
• Maintain privacy and a clean, safe environment; follow infection control procedures.
• Support feeding, hygiene, mobility, safety and other routine tasks.
• Work within a correctional facility and adhere to security and reporting structures.
