Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch in Dickinson, TX is seeking a Nurse Assistant to provide basic technical assistance and supportive patient care within a correctional health setting. You will collect vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, and support infection control and safety measures as part of a patient-focused team.

Primary responsibilities include data collection, feeding assistance, hygiene support, mobility assistance, and ensuring privacy and proper documentation.

Qualifications

• Must have high school or equivalent and completion of one of the listed technical programs, or two years of direct patient care experience, or current enrollment in a Nursing program with first semester completed.
• Current BLS-HP certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Collects, reports and documents patient data: vital signs, height/weight, intake/output, pulse oximetry, and specimens.
• Performs and reports POCT.
• Assists with patient activities and care as directed by the charge nurse or designee.
• Provides for patients' personal hygiene and assists with feeding.
• Assists with ambulation, positioning, turning, and care for patients with limited mobility.
• Supports patient safety related to age and condition.
