Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch in Huntsville, TX is seeking a Patient Care Regular to provide basic technical assistance and supportive patient care across assigned areas within Correctional Managed Care.

You will collect vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, ensure privacy, maintain cleanliness, and support safety and infection control in a correctional facility setting. Salary is commensurate with experience, and compliance with security and drug testing is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of listed technical programs or 2 years of direct patient care experience or enrollment in a School of Nursing with clinical concepts.
• Current BLS-HP certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Collects, reports and documents data: vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, pulse oximetry, and specimens.
• Performs and reports POCT.
• Assists with patient activities and care as directed by the charge nurse or plan of care.
• Provides for patients' personal hygiene.
• Assists with feeding.
• Ambulates, positions, and turns patients; assists with altered mobility.
• Assists with patient safety related to age and condition.
• Assists with restraints and safety precautions; documents needs and emergencies in a correctional environment.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Maintains a clean, safe environment; follows aseptic technique and infection control.
• Maintains patient care areas with supplies.
• Adheres to internal controls and department structure.
• Performs related duties as required.
