Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, OH invites experienced healthcare professionals to join our patient care team. You will assist with vital signs, triage, and a range of procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Qualifications

• Previous hospital experience preferred.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Current BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists with delivering patient care: obtain patient vital signs, assist with feeding, toileting, hygiene care, finger-stick blood sugar readings, maintain skin integrity, perform EKGs, and ambulate and transfer patients.
• Perform routine procedures including surgical skin preps and enemas.
• Schedules diagnostic procedures/tests/appointments, communicating with Physicians and care team.
• Answers call lights timely and notifies appropriate personnel of patient needs.
• Demonstrates service excellence and supports patient satisfaction goals.
• Recognizes changes in patient condition and acts accordingly.
• Collects data, reports information and performs interventions to improve quality issues.
• Obtains patient information/data and observes confidentiality.
• Orders and enters charges for procedures and supplies as applicable.
• Reports problems to the appropriate department and supports resolution.
• Must be adaptable and a team player.
• Maintains professional communication and guest relations; projects a positive image of the Medical Center.
• Performs vitals, height/weight, and visual acuity in triage.
• Assists with sterile field setup for suturing and procedures.
• May perform other patient care activities as trained by the RN.
