Job summary

Firelands Health in Sandusky, OH is seeking a Registered Nurse to support inpatient care, triage, and essential patient services. You will work within a patient-centered team to deliver high-quality care and maintain safety and confidentiality.

The role emphasizes adapting to patient needs, coordinating with physicians and staff, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives within a community hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Previous hospital experience preferred.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Current BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists with delivering patient care: obtain vital signs, assist with feeding, toileting and hygiene, monitor skin integrity, perform basic monitoring.
• Performs routine procedures including surgical skin prep and enemas.
• Schedules diagnostic procedures/tests/appointments and coordinates orders with physicians, nurses, and other care teams.
• Answers call lights promptly and communicates patient needs to the appropriate staff.
• Demonstrates service excellence and supports patient satisfaction goals.
• Recognizes significant changes in patient condition and takes appropriate action.
• Collects data, reports information and supports quality improvement efforts.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and accurate documentation.
• Orders and enters charges for procedures and supplies as applicable.
• Reports problems to the appropriate department and assists in resolution.
• Maintains flexibility, adaptability and team-oriented approach.
• Provides professional communication and positive guest relations for the Medical Center.
• Performs vitals, height, weight and basic triage measurements.
• Assists with sterile field setup for suturing and procedures.
• May perform other patient care activities as trained and directed by the RN.
