Job summary

UHC United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV is seeking a Nursing Assistant to perform nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will provide high-quality patient care in coordination with licensed medical staff.

The role includes vital signs, assisting with admissions and transfers, and ensuring patient comfort while maintaining a clean, safe environment. You will follow infection control guidelines and departmental procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire date.
• Prior patient care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports patient concerns or changes in condition to a registered nurse.
• Assists RN with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Records vital signs and assists with personal hygiene and patient comfort measures.
• Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment to prevent infections and ensure safety of patients, visitors and staff.
• Reports necessary equipment repairs to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to procedures.
• Communicates with RN regarding nutrition issues or understanding of diet changes.
• Assists department with administrative tasks and answers patient call bells.
