Job summary

Baptist Health in Paducah, KY is seeking a PRN Patient Care Tech for the ER to support nursing staff with general patient care, monitoring, and routine tasks.

You will assist with hygiene, vital signs, and phlebotomy while documenting care in the EMR and coordinating patient transport as needed. BLS within 3 months is required; prior aide training or phlebotomy experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS/CPR certification required within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient hygiene and routine care; monitor vital signs.
• Document patient care in EMR according to scope of practice.
• Perform phlebotomy and various lab collections as needed.
• Place and manage monitoring equipment on patients.
• Perform 12-lead ECGs.

Patient Care Tech - ER

PRN

Provides general nursing care assistance to patients, with consideration for the unique needs of pediatric and geriatric populations as appropriate. Assists in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized environment. Patient Care Technicians perform duties under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, and in addition performs general stocking duties as needed to support unit operations.

Job Duties:

• Patient hygiene, routine vital signs, routine care.
• Documentation of patient care in EMR based on scope of practice.
• Phlebotomy and various other lab collections.
• Placement of appropriate monitoring equipment.
• Performs 12 Lead ECG.
• Coordinates transport of patients as needed.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Must obtain Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire

Preferred Requirements:

• Successful completion of an Approved Aide Training Program is preferred
• Previous phlebotomy/point of care testing is preferred
• One year of previous experience in a healthcare setting providing patient care preferred
