Job summary

Crisp Regional Health Services seeks a Patient Care Technician to assist the nursing team with basic patient care under supervision. You will help with personal needs, monitor patient conditions, and maintain a safe, clean clinical environment.

Responsibilities include operating BP machines and SCD devices, collecting and transporting specimens, assisting with hygiene, and supporting infection control and quality initiatives within the department.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Up to six months of related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • BLS certification required and must be current; if not, obtained within orientation period.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as part of an interdisciplinary team with positive interpersonal communication skills when communicating with patients, families, visitors, physicians, coworkers, and staff from other departments of the organization.
  • Provides direct support to the nursing staff and follows the director’s and licensed nursing staff’s instructions in the delivery of quality patient care.
  • Alerts the nursing and medical staff to observe changes in the patient’s condition.
  • Operates medical equipment safely, such as automatic blood pressure machines and SCD machines.
  • Collects and transports patient specimens for laboratory analysis as directed.
  • Assists patients with basic hygiene, hair and oral care as required.
  • Complies with CRHS safety, infection control, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Maintains knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Provides basic clerical support as requested.
  • Presents a professional image to CRHS staff, patients, families, and visitors.
  • Participates in performance improvement studies and integrates standards into work activities.
  • Attends professional development programs and in-service training and meets continuing education requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Under the leadership of the departmental Nursing Director and the supervision of a licensed nurse, the Patient Care Technician provides culturally sensitive, developmentally appropriate patient care. The Patient Care Technician works under close supervision of a licensed nurse and performs a variety of basic patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs of patients.

Basic Qualifications
  • Education: Requires a high school diploma in General Studies or a GED state certification.
  • Experience: Requires up to six months of work-related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Licensure, Registrations & Certifications: Requires and maintains a certification in Basic Life Saving (BLS). (If BLS certification is not current upon hire, it must be obtained within the orientation period.)

  • Attends professional development programs and in-service training and meets the minimum requirement for continuing professional education.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.
