Job summary

Baptist Health in Paducah, KY seeks a Patient Care Tech - ER (PRN) to support nursing staff with basic care and monitoring. You will assist with hygiene, vital signs, specimen collection, ECGs, and transport coordination, under RN supervision, in a fast-paced emergency department.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, BLS within 3 months, and prior healthcare exposure preferred; training will be provided.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must obtain Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire.
• PRN role; ability to work flexible hours.
• Previous healthcare exposure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient hygiene and routine vital signs.
• Document patient care in EMR per scope of practice.
• Perform phlebotomy and various lab collections.
• Place appropriate monitoring equipment and perform 12-lead ECG.
• Coordinate patient transport as needed.

Patient Care Tech - ER

PRN

Provides general nursing care assistance to patients, with consideration for the unique needs of pediatric and geriatric populations as appropriate. Assists in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized environment. Patient Care Technicians perform duties under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, and in addition performs general stocking duties as needed to support unit operations.

Job Duties:

• Patient hygiene, routine vital signs, routine care.
• Documentation of patient care in EMR based on scope of practice.
• Phlebotomy and various other lab collections.
• Placement of appropriate monitoring equipment.
• Performs 12 Lead ECG.
• Coordinates transport of patients as needed.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Must obtain Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire

Preferred Requirements:

• Successful completion of an Approved Aide Training Program is preferred
• Previous phlebotomy/point of care testing is preferred
• One year of previous experience in a healthcare setting providing patient care preferred
