Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Medical Care Center. This role runs full-time days, 6am-6:30pm with rotating weekends, supporting adult medical and oncology patients on a 24-bed unit.

You will perform nursing tasks under RN supervision, monitor vitals and glucose, assist with daily living activities, and ensure clean, organized rooms on a busy unit. Eligible applicants include CNAs, CMAs, or EMTs, or nursing students with one semester of clinicals, and BLS

Qualifications

• Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or nursing student with one semester of clinical completed.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Performs basic nursing care activities under RN supervision.
• Flexibility, organization, and multitasking in a clinical unit.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN.
• Monitors vital signs, takes blood glucose measurements, records intake and output.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Manages unit workflow with the charge RN and/or assistant manager.
• Acts as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answers telephone, intercom, and call lights professionally.
