Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support post-surgical patients in the CDH Surgical Care Center (2 B/C). This full-time day shift (6am-6pm) includes rotating weekends and emphasizes compassionate, safe care.

Under RN supervision, you will monitor vital signs, assist with ADLs, and document inputs and outputs. You’ll liaise with other units and help maintain a clean, efficient workflow on the unit.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA/CMA/EMT certification or nursing student with one semester clinical completed.
• American Heart Association BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating).
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility and ability to multi-task under stress.
• Manages unit workflow with the charge RN/as needed.
• Performs pre-census and validates daily admissions/discharges.
