Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Tech to perform basic patient care activities under the supervision of an RN in a full-time role. The position supports daily rounds, vital sign monitoring, and nursing tasks in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes teamwork, effective communication, and the ability to handle multiple priorities while maintaining patient comfort and safety. Work hours are day shift 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. with alternating weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CNA, CMA, EMT certifications or nursing student with one clinical semester.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and recording intake and output.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming and eating.
• Reports abnormal findings or changes to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility, organization and multi-tasking under stress.
• Prioritizes unit work using critical thinking as needs change.
• Acts as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answers calls with polite telephone etiquette and communicates with staff, family or patient.
• Manages unit workflow with charge RN/assistant manager as needed.
• Performs pre-census and validates daily admission, discharge and census lists as needed.
