Job summary

Carilion Medical Center in Roanoke, VA is seeking a full-time Patient Care Technician for the 10 West Unit. You will assist patients with daily living activities, monitor vitals, and provide nursing care under supervision.

Successful candidates must attend daytime orientation sessions 8 am–5 pm for the first two weeks. The 10 West unit is a 28-bed Medical-Surgical unit with geriatric patients; the role includes day shifts, every other weekend, and rotating holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic nursing care and documents patient observations per established standards.
• Transports patients, supplies, specimens, equipment, etc. within the facility.
• Contributes to Carilion Clinic's performance improvement activities and unit outcomes.
• Exhibits competent knowledge of EMR and assists with chart audits.
• Participates in unit quality surveillance activities and governance meetings.
• Supports admission, transfer, and discharge processes with patient-focused care.
• Welcomes and assists patients and visitors; maintains patient-friendly environment.
